Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh’s folk song team made the state proud at the national level by securing the first position through its powerful, emotional and excellent presentation in the National Folk Song Competition organized under the Vikas Bharat Young Leader Dialogue-2026 organized at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This achievement is a symbol of Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural tradition and strong expression of young talent.

Impressive presentation of cultural heritage of Bundelkhand
During the competition, the folk traditions of Bundelkhand, the heart region of the state, were presented in a lively and impressive form by the Madhya Pradesh Folk Song Group. The team mesmerized the audience and the jury present on the national stage with an emotional rendition of “Baredi Phag”, a traditional folk song based on Krishna Leela sung by the Ahir community on the occasion of traditional festivals like Diwali and Govardhan Puja.
Strong role of direction and cast
This excellent presentation was directed by Yash Gopal Srivastava. In the folk song group, Sakshi Patria, Sanjay Kori, Pankaj Kharare, Om Bhatt, Golu Kushwaha, Himansh Kharare, Vidhan Chaubey, Yash Pathak, Kesharaj Bansal, Shivangi Pathak and Aditya Dangi collectively demonstrated their talent effectively. The unity, discipline and artistic maturity of the artists took the presentation to special heights.
Powerful confluence of folk tradition and youth energy
This presentation was full of folk traditions, cultural consciousness and youthful energy of the state, which strengthened the strong, vibrant and influential cultural representation of Madhya Pradesh at the national level.

Honorable Cooperation, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Vishwas Kailash Sarang expressed happiness over Madhya Pradesh’s folk song team securing first place in the National Folk Song Competition and heartily congratulated all the artists, directors and supporting team. He said that this achievement is a strong proof of the state’s rich folk culture, traditions and creative potential of the youth. The Honorable Minister expressed confidence that through such cultural platforms, the identity of Madhya Pradesh will be further strengthened at the national and international level and young artists will continuously achieve new heights.
National level selection process conducted in four stages
Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025–2026 is a national program organized in four phases, which aims to connect youth with the vision of a developed India. In the first phase, 1,69,113 youth participated in the Digital Vikas Bharat Quiz held from 1 September to 31 October 2025, which was evaluated by the Government of India. In the second phase, 1,850 essays were received in the essay writing competition organized from 6 to 20 November 2025, which were evaluated by the experts of the Higher Education Department in Bhopal. Under the third phase, 250 participants gave live presentations in the state level Developed India Vision PPT Challenge. Along with this, special programs like Hack for Social Cause and Design for Bharat were also organized under this event to encourage the innovative capacity of the youth, in which solutions to social problems were presented through technology and design. In the fourth and final phase, during the National Youth Festival at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi from 10 to 12 January 2026, the selected participants will present their ideas for a developed India before Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
