Raipur : Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is proving to be an effective initiative towards making common citizens self-reliant in the field of energy. Through this scheme, not only electricity is being saved, but clean and renewable energy is also being promoted. Rajpur resident Anil Tiwari has taken advantage of this scheme and has moved forward on the path of energy self-sufficiency.
Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana) is an initiative of the Government of India which aims to help 1 crore houses to install rooftop solar panels so that they can get up to 300 units of free electricity every month and save on electricity bills and also become a source of income by selling excess electricity.
Anil Tiwari, a resident of Rajpur in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, has installed a 3 kilowatt capacity solar rooftop plant on the roof of his house. Due to which the electricity requirement of the house is being completely met by solar energy. They say that they are getting double benefit from Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. On one hand, there has been relief from electricity bills, on the other hand, a new source of income has also been created through additional power generation.
It is noteworthy that under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, special subsidy is being provided by the government for setting up solar rooftop plants. On solar plants of 3 kilowatt or more capacity, financial assistance of Rs 78 thousand is being given by the Central Government and Rs 30 thousand is being given by the State Government, a total of Rs 1 lakh 8 thousand. Due to this subsidy, common citizens are also able to easily adopt solar energy.
Anil Tiwari has also appealed to other citizens of the district to take advantage of the scheme. He says that if every home adopts solar energy, not only will the electricity expenditure reduce but we will also become self-reliant in the field of energy supply.
