Mumbai Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis strongly criticized BJP leaders for forming alliances with Congress and AIMIM in Ambernath and Akola and warned of action. He clarified that such an alliance was done without the approval of the senior leadership of the party and was a violation of organizational discipline.
Fadnavis said, “I am making it clear that any kind of alliance with Congress or AIMIM will not be acceptable. If any local leader has taken such a decision on his own free will, it is against discipline and action will be taken against him.” He further said that instructions have already been issued to cancel such alliances.
On Wednesday, reports emerged that the BJP has formed a post-poll alliance with rivals Congress and AIMIM in some municipal councils in Maharashtra. Following the municipal corporation elections held last month, some BJP leaders along with arch rival Congress and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party formed the leadership of Ambernath Municipal Council under the banner of ‘Ambernath Vikas Aghadi’.
