The administration and the government are in full alert mode in view of the Mahapanchayat. To maintain peace and order, Section 163 has been imposed in the revenue limits of Sangriya. Before the Mahapanchayat, farmers reached the farmers memorial built in the Sangaria Municipal Council office premises and paid tribute to the martyred farmers. During this, the farmers raised slogans like ‘Lal Salaam’, ‘As long as the sun and moon remain, the name of the martyred farmers will remain’. Farmer leaders said that in Sangriya, tribute is paid to the martyrs of the 1970 movement every year on January 7 and this time a Mahapanchayat is being organized on the same day.
A group of farmers reached under the leadership of Ugrahan

Administration strict, barricading all around
The administration has made strict security arrangements regarding the Mahapanchayat. Since Tuesday night, barricading has been done on all four major entry routes of Sangriya town. There is a police blockade on Ratanpura Kainchi, Nathwana, Bhagatpura culvert and Rural College Chautala Road canal culvert. People and vehicles coming from outside areas are being allowed to enter the town only after checking. The police and administration do not want to commit any mistake by taking a lesson from the previous incident of Tibbi.
Special arrangements for traffic and parking
In view of the Mahapanchayat, special arrangements have also been made for traffic and parking. Spaces have been earmarked for parking of vehicles near Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bhagatpura Road, taxi stand near SDM office, Nathwana Road and Mira College. A total of 8 routes have been fixed for traffic in the new paddy market, while both the gates located near the market committee in the southern direction have been kept closed.
Internet services temporarily closed
Authorities have temporarily shut down internet services to prevent possible tension and rumours. Additional Divisional Commissioner, Bikaner, while issuing an order on the proposal of Hanumangarh District Collector, has directed to shut down the internet for 30 hours from 6 pm on Tuesday in Sangaria tehsil and within its 10 km radius. This restriction will be in force from 6 pm on January 6 to 11:59 pm on January 7. According to the administration, this step has been taken in view of the fear of disturbance of peace due to upcoming activities and possible crowd.
Major demands of farmers
The main demands of the farmers include cancellation of the MoU of the proposed ethanol chemical factory in Tibbi area. Apart from this, there is also a demand to withdraw the cases registered against the farmers after the clash with the police in Tibbi. Farmer leaders say that the agitation will continue until a concrete decision is taken on their demands. The administration has appealed to the farmer leaders to organize the program peacefully. At the same time, administrative officials are continuously present at the spot and monitoring the arrangements and security situation.
