Haldwani: The arbitrariness and insensitivity of the private hospital has been seen in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Where a patient died during treatment, but the hospital management refused to hand over the body demanding additional money. Only when the matter reached the SSP, the hospital handed over the body to the family. At the same time, SSP Manjunath TC has given strict instructions to the hospital management.
The woman was referred from Almora, died in a private hospital in Haldwani: According to the information, on the night of 3rd January, Nandan Birodia, son of Dungar Singh Birodia, resident of Golna Karadia, Dharanoula, Almora, called Nainital SSP Manjunath TC and told him about his pain. He told that his wife Seema Birodiya was referred from Base Hospital Almora to a private hospital in Haldwani, where she died during treatment.
The hospital made a bill of Rs 80 thousand, refused to hand over the dead body due to non-payment: He alleged that the hospital management is demanding additional money instead of giving the dead body. Besides, the body is being refused to be handed over due to non-payment of money. The victim told that he is financially weak and has already deposited Rs 57 thousand for the treatment. Despite this, a condition is being set by the hospital to deposit another Rs 30 thousand. Due to which they are not able to even perform the last rites by taking the dead body.
On police intervention, the hospital handed over the body, death certificate was also prepared: On hearing the plight of the victim, SSP Manjunath TC immediately instructed Haldwani CO City Amit Kumar and Inspector-in-charge Kotwali Vijay Mehta to take necessary action. On which the police team immediately reached the hospital and intervened and handed over the body of the deceased to the family members. Along with this, death certificate was also issued.
Police gave strict instructions, SSP said about action: During this, the police instructed the hospital management in a strict tone to follow humanity. Also instructed not to commit such inhuman acts in future. At the same time, SSP Manjunath TC also talked about taking action against the concerned hospital.
