New Delhi. In the case of Chandrashekhar’s murder in Kailash Nagar, East Delhi in 2017, the court has convicted the temple priest and his wife, who had tried to burn the body by strangulation as part of a conspiracy. The court has convicted a priest and his wife in the case of murder of a person inside the temple in East Delhi’s Kailash Nagar area in 2017. The court of Additional Sessions Judge Anurag Thakur at Karkardooma convicted priest Lakhan Dubey and his wife Kamlesh on charges related to murder, destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy. The court said in its judgment that the body of deceased Chandrashekhar was found on September 27, 2017, in the room of the same temple where Lakhan Dubey was working as a priest. He had the keys to all the rooms and stairs of the temple. Circumstantial evidence and witness statements make it clear that the priest and his wife were involved in the murder. According to the prosecution, on September 25, 2017, Kamlesh brought Chandrashekhar to Delhi saying that her husband had gone out. It is alleged that he mixed sleeping pills in the food. When Chandrashekhar became unconscious, both of them strangled him to death with a rope. After this, the body was set on fire with the aim of hiding the identity and destroying the evidence. The court said that the prosecution has been successful in proving the charges. Arguments on the punishment of the guilty couple will be heard on January 7.
