Rajasthan News: Preparations for Panchayat Raj elections have started in the state. There is a possibility of voting in March-April. The Commission has released the voter list update program. The final list will be published on 25th February.
The elections for Panchayat Raj institutions were awaited in the state for a long time. Now that wait may end soon. Because the State Election Commission has started preparations for this. Let us tell you that elections for Panchayat Raj institutions can be conducted in the state in the month of March-April. In this regard, the State Election Commission has issued a program to update the voter list. Guidelines have been sent to all the collectors of the state to update the voter list and set up polling booths.
Work to update voter list should start soon
In the guidelines sent by the State Election Commission, citing the orders of the Supreme Court, the Commission has set the deadline for holding elections of Panchayati Raj institutions before April 15. Besides, the Commission has given instructions to all the collectors that the work of updating the voter list should be started soon.
Schedule for finalizing voter list
January 29 – Publication of draft voter list
January 31- Draft voter list will be read out at wards and polling stations.
7th February- Last date for submitting claims and objections
8-14 February- Disposal of claims and objections
25 February-Final Voter List
There will be maximum 1100 voters at one booth
The State Election Commission has asked to follow the orders of the Election Commission for the formation of wards during the Panchayat elections. According to the instructions of the Election Commission, there should not be more than 1100 voters at one booth. On an average, there are 300 to 400 voters in one ward of the Panchayat, hence there will be voters from more than one ward at one booth.
Physical verification of voter list will be done by January 24
Voter list will be prepared on the basis of ward and its physical verification will be done. Enumerators (employees) have been deployed for this. It will also be ensured that the voter list is as per the delimitation of the ward. Physical verification work will have to be completed by January 24. During physical verification, if it is found that someone’s name is not in the voter list of the concerned ward and is in another ward, then such mistakes have also been asked to be corrected. During physical verification, efforts have also been made to motivate people to add new names to the voter list. During this period, new applications will be taken. Along with this, voters who complete 18 years on January 1, 2026 will also be identified during the list upgrade period. So that they can be included in the voter list. Let us tell you that the tenure of all the Panchayats in the state has been completed, hence elections for 14,000 Gram Panchayats of the state will be held simultaneously. On the other hand, elections for Panchayat Samitis and District Councils will not be held simultaneously. Because elections for Panchayat Committees and District Councils whose tenure has not been completed will be held later.
