Raipur : Through the government’s ambitious scheme Jal Jeevan Mission, significant progress has been achieved towards providing “pure water from tap to every house” in Mungeli district. Work is being done rapidly to supply pure drinking water to every household in all 674 villages of the district. Till now, tap connections have been provided to 1 lakh 48 thousand 875 families of the district, which has brought a pleasant change in rural life.
Under the scheme, till now 236 villages have been declared as “Har Ghar Jal” villages and the schemes have been duly transferred to the respective Gram Panchayats. The work in the remaining villages is also in the final stages and the process of declaring them as “Water for every house” is going on soon. Under development block Mungeli, out of the schemes approved for 263 villages of 126 gram panchayats, work has been completed in 100 villages, while in 94 villages the work of providing water to every house has been completed and the schemes are being operated by the gram panchayats. Apart from this, construction work of 141 out of 215 approved high level reservoirs has been completed.
Due to widening of the National Highway, pipeline shifting work is being done in Setganga village of the district. Partial water supply has started in villages Vichapur and Shuklamatha after testing. In villages Nagpahari and Mudhapar, the scheme has been completed and transferred to the Gram Panchayat. Work is in progress in village Bijatarai, while testing and necessary improvement work is going on in village Tarakpur. Action is being taken to restore the water supply that was disrupted due to the incident of solar panel theft in village Kanchanpur. Regular meetings of the District Water and Sanitation Committee are being organized by the Collector for effective implementation of the schemes of Jal Jeevan Mission.
