Indian Police Service officer Virendra Kumar Mishra of Madhya Pradesh cadre has got important responsibility at the Centre. He has been posted as Deputy Secretary in the Home Ministry. In this regard, an office memorandum has been issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Government of India. IPS Mishra is a 2012 batch officer.
Will remain on deputation till 2029
IPS Virendra Kumar Mishra, who was recommended for Central Deputation, has been selected for appointment to the post of Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme. This appointment will be for a period of four years from the date of assuming charge of the post. He will continue to work on this post from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2029. Due to this he will be relieved from this post. This order will be effective from Thursday.
Will have to join for three weeks
Virendra Kumar Mishra will have to assume this charge within three weeks. According to the circular (No. 3/4/2004-EO(MM-I) dated 17 August 2005 of the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, if an officer does not join the post under the Central Staffing Scheme within 3 weeks, then he will be dropped from the process.

Virendra Kumar Mishra is a 2012 batch officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He has served as Superintendent of Police in Datia district. Last year, i.e. in 2024, he was promoted to the post of ASP on completion of 13 years of qualifying service.
