Gopalganj. A sensational case has come to light in Majirwa Khurd village of Sripur police station area. On December 19, a woman was beaten up in the village over a land dispute. Rekebiya Devi, the woman injured in this incident, had lodged an FIR against six people of her village at Sripur police station. On Saturday, a WhatsApp call was received on the victim’s mobile number, in which an unknown person introduced himself as a police officer of Sripur police station. Citing further action in the FIR and arrest of the accused, he demanded Rs 5,000. The thugs said that the accused would be arrested after receiving the money. After the phone was disconnected, the victim’s son Pawan Sharma went straight to the police station and informed about the entire incident. The police investigated the matter and clarified that no officer from the police station makes such calls. The police station chief appealed to the people to be alert and said that cyber thugs are trying to mislead people by posing as police. He said that the police never demand money in any case and any such incident should be immediately reported to the police station. Police advised people to never trust anyone asking for money through phone, WhatsApp or message. Do not give money without official confirmation and take special care of cyber security.
