According to Abhishek, among all the species of snakes found on earth, Spectacled Cobra is the only snake which has the shape of an eye on its hood, which appears like glasses from behind. This is the reason why scientists have named this species of Cobra as Spectacled.
In such a situation, it can be said that this snake which adorns the neck of Lord Shankar is none other than the Spectacled Cobra. In India, this snake is known as Wheatbant. It comes first in the list of the four most poisonous snakes of Asia.
Cobra, Krait, Russell’s Viper and Saw Scaled Viper, these are the four snakes which are responsible for the maximum number of bites and deaths in India. That is why they are known as the Big Four. Out of these four, Spectacled Cobra (Gheatvan) is the only snake which is easily seen in most parts of the country.
Due to being easily found in most parts of the country, they also encounter a lot of humans. In such a situation, cases of bites increase manifold. After the bite of these snakes, which are equipped with extremely strong and deadly neurotoxin venom, the victim gets only 30 to 45 minutes for treatment.
