Jaipur. The festival of Christmas was celebrated with reverence, joy and traditional customs in Jaipur. Prayers, carol singing and mass celebrations were organized in different churches of the city since morning. Church premises were decorated with colorful lights, stars, Christmas trees and tableaux of the birth of Jesus Christ. This made the atmosphere completely festive. Special prayers were held at midnight and morning in several churches including St. Xavier’s Church, All Saints’ Church. A large number of devotees attended these meetings and the message of the birth of Jesus Christ was shared.
Children and youth in the church sang traditional Christmas carols making the atmosphere emotional and joyful. The life and messages of Lord Jesus were commemorated with songs like ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Silent Night’. The entire campus was filled with joy while singing carols. Christmas celebration was celebrated in a completely traditional style. After the prayers, everyone hugged and congratulated each other, cakes were cut and special gifts and sweets were distributed to the children. In many churches, the story of the birth of Lord Jesus was presented by children through small theatrical performances and tableaux, which was greatly appreciated by the audience. Special security arrangements were made outside the churches. Adequate force was deployed by the police administration, so that the devotees could enjoy the festival without any hassle.

According to the report, the Sacred Heart Church located at Ghatgate is one of the oldest churches in Rajasthan, which was constructed in the late 19th century.
