Raipur : Shanti Dugga, a resident of village Kurushnar under Orchha development block of Narayanpur district, has today become a strong identity of rural self-reliance. Shanti Dugga, an active member of Roshni Self Help Group and associated with Pratigya Gram Sangathan, not only strengthened the economic condition of her family through Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai’s Bihan Yojana, but has also set an inspiring example for other women.
Shanti Dugga joined the self-help group on 19 August 2019. Earlier, his family’s livelihood depended on agricultural work and forest produce collection, due to which the income was limited. After joining the group, he started regular savings. The group received revolving fund of Rs 15 thousand and community investment fund amount of Rs 60 thousand from the government, due to which financial discipline and understanding of mutual transactions developed.
Through bank linkage, Shanti Dugga started a grocery shop for the first time by taking a loan of Rs 1 lakh. After getting success in business, he started textile business by taking a loan of Rs 2 lakh 70 thousand. With the aim of expanding the work of the market, he also bought a pickup vehicle. Due to regular income, she kept paying the loan installments and interest on time.
With continuously growing business and confidence, Shanti Dugga bought a tractor in the third phase by taking a loan of Rs 6 lakh. Today the annual income of his family has reached Rs 4 to 5 lakh, due to which the standard of living of the family has improved significantly.
Shanti Dugga says that Bihan Yojana gave her the opportunity to become self-reliant. Today they are able to provide good education and better health facilities to their children. Their success story proves that with the right guidance and support from government schemes, rural women can also set a new example of economic empowerment.
