Mumbai Thackeray brothers have come together for BMC elections. Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray announced the alliance of Shiv Sena, UBT and MNS in a joint press conference on Wednesday. However, from a statement by CM Devendra Fadnavis, it seems that BJP has not given any importance to this alliance of Thackeray brothers. CM Fadnavis said, ‘The alliance of Shiv Sena, UBT and MNS is being promoted as if Russia and Ukraine have come together and Zelensky and Putin are in talks.’
Taking aim at Shiv Sena, UBT and MNS, the Chief Minister said, ‘Both the parties are facing existential crisis, these parties have created distrust among the people by repeatedly changing their roles, they have lost their vote bank by doing appeasement politics. What difference will their coming together make? If they are coming together to save their existence then they cannot win the elections. Both the brothers no longer have any ideology left, they are only doing politics of opportunism.
Maharashtra government minister and BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on the alliance of Thackeray brothers, ‘They have lost their land. Uddhav Thackeray’s party has been reduced to eight seats from 228 in the civic elections. Same thing will happen in Mumbai. This is why they are coming together. We wish them all the best for their coming together. People of Mumbai will vote for development. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has pledged for a developed Mumbai. Mumbai will be developed on the lines of an international city. Our manifesto will bring us victory. Both the brothers are coming together, just because they will not get sympathy votes. They neither have candidates nor workers on all the seats.
Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has questioned the alliance of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray, saying if these people actually have so much power then why did they lose badly in the recent civic elections? Congress is neither with Uddhav Thackeray nor with Sharad Pawar, hence they need someone, like a straw to support a drowning person. Similarly, Uddhav Thackeray wants the support of Raj Thackeray. I don’t think it will be of much benefit.
Reacting to the alliance of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said, in the recent civic elections, Congress, which plays the role of elder brother in the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance, emerged as the largest party and was more successful than the other two parties in the alliance. If both the brothers have decided to come together then we are happy with it. We congratulate him, but Congress party will never join hands with MNS. We will stand with Shiv Sena UBT and NCP SP. What Marathi people decide for Maharashtra is up to them.
