Kolkata. Suspended Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir announced the formation of a new political party. Kabir told that the name of his party will be Janata Unnayan Party (JUP). Its state committee has 75 members, in which about 20 percent representation will be from the Hindu community. Kabir said that the formal launch of the party will take place during a public meeting at Beldanga in Murshidabad district.
The thing is that Murshidabad is a Muslim dominated district. This region has 30 out of total 294 assembly seats in the state. Bengal Assembly elections are to be held in March-April of the year 2026. Shri Kabir said that during this time he is also going to announce about five possible candidates for the upcoming assembly elections.
He said he is planning to contest from both Rezinagar and Beldanga seats and is confident of winning both the seats in 2026. Among hundreds of his supporters at Beldanga ground, some were also waving flags of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
A supporter associated with the Sundarban Unnayan Educational Trust also announced a sum of Rs 1 crore for setting up an educational institution. Kabir said that the proposed Babri Masjid will be established near the complex in this future. Kabir claimed that his party’s flag would soon be seen across the state. The party flag will be like the Trinamool Congress and the Indian national flag. He said that he will continue to work for the people of West Bengal. Kabir said, depending on the allocation by the Election Commission, the party’s symbol could be a table, a pair of roses or a coconut tree. My first choice is the table. He claimed that his party will play a decisive role in forming the next government in the state and will form an alliance with the Janata Unnayan Party (JUP), CPI(M), Indian Secular Front (ISF) and Congress in Murshidabad. Kabir said, we are going to create a new history in Murshidabad. Trinamool Congress will be eliminated in 2026 elections.
