Farmer Yogesh Aggarwal’s income increased due to grafted brinjal cultivation

Raipur : The farmer-friendly policies of the state government are showing great results. Yogesh Aggarwal, a progressive farmer of village Semaria (B) of Bhatapara block of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, has been successful in increasing his income by cultivating grafted brinjal. Aggarwal told that earlier he used to cultivate vegetables in the traditional way. Then he got the benefit of the grafted brinjal and tomato demonstration scheme under the National Agricultural Development Scheme by the Horticulture Department.

He informed that the incidence of diseases in grafted brinjal is less as compared to normal farming. At the same time, production is obtained in all three seasons. There is less water and labor costs also. Plants also become stronger due to which production has improved. Agarwal said that farmers are getting economic benefits from this technology.

It is noteworthy that the Horticulture Department is running the Grafted Brinjal and Tomato Demonstration Scheme under the National Agricultural Development Scheme with the aim of increasing the income of the farmers in the district by connecting them with modern technology. This scheme has been implemented for the first time in the district. Under the scheme, grafted brinjal and tomato are being cultivated by the farmers for which the amount per demonstration is Rs. A grant of Rs 30000 is being given.

The district has achieved the target of 188 units of demonstration, against which 188 farmers were selected as per rules and the farmers are being given the benefit of this scheme.
