Namrup (Assam): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing the party of indulging in anti-national activities and helping illegal Bangladeshi immigrants settle in the state.
Addressing a public rally after inaugurating the Rs 10,601 crore fertilizer plant at Namrup in Dibrugarh, Assam, Modi also alleged that the Congress made no effort to modernize the old plant here and find solutions to the problems of the farmers.
The PM claimed, “Congress is involved in anti-national activities. They want illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to settle in Assam.” He said that the opposition party is not concerned about the identity, existence and pride of the Assamese people, which the BJP is trying to save.
Modi said, “Congress is opposing the change in the voter list because it only wants to grab power… Whatever good work I try to do, they oppose it… The BJP government will always work to protect the identity, land, pride and existence of the Assamese people.”
The Prime Minister said that the BJP government aims to make Assam as powerful as it was centuries ago during the Ahom dynasty. Modi said, “Industrialization and connectivity are fulfilling the dreams of Assam. BJP’s double engine government is strengthening the youth to see new dreams.”
He said that Namrup Urea Plant will help local farmers and create thousands of jobs for the youth of Assam. The PM said, “Namrup Fertilizer Plant in Assam will become a symbol of the country’s industrial growth. It is sad that Congress did not try to modernize the plant and find solutions to the problems of the farmers.”
He emphasized that India will progress only when farmers are happy and the BJP government has started many schemes for their upliftment. Modi said, “Many fertilizer factories were closed during the Congress rule. When we came to power, the BJP government set up many new plants across the country.” The PM also said that the Centre’s Palm Oil Mission will make North-East self-reliant in edible oil in the coming days and will increase the income of farmers.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of ‘Brownfield Ammonia-Urea Plant’ to be built at a cost of Rs 10,601 crore in Dibrugarh district of Assam.
