Sultanpur,. The criminal Siraj Ahmed, who was wanted in about two and a half dozen crimes and was absconding for one and a half years in the murder case of the famous advocate Azad of Sultanpur, UP, was killed by the STF in an encounter. There was a reward of one lakh rupees on him. This encounter took place in Gangoh police station area of Saharanpur. During this, Siraj was seriously injured by the bullet. He was admitted to a nearby hospital. He died there.
According to the police, Siraj Ahmed has a very long criminal history. There are about 30 cases registered against him in different districts of Uttar Pradesh under serious sections like murder, attempt to murder and National Security Act (NSA). STF and local police are now interrogating him and gathering information about his network and other absconding accused. SP Kunwar Anupam Singh said that information has been received that Siraj Ahmed was injured during the encounter in Saharanpur.
The arrested criminal Siraj Ahmed is a resident of Lolepur village of Kotwali Nagar area of Sultanpur district. The STF team received information on Saturday night that Siraj was present in Saharanpur district through the Punjab-Haryana border, planning to commit some major crime. On information, the team laid siege to Gangoh area. Seeing himself surrounded, Siraj started firing on the team. He was injured by a bullet in retaliation. Died in the hospital. Let us tell you that on the evening of 8 August 2023, Sultanpur Civil Court advocate Azad Ahmed was shot dead. This sensational incident had raised serious questions on law and order in the district. Siraj Ahmed, the main accused in the murder, came forward during the police investigation. Since then he was absconding. The police had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on Siraj, who was wanted in the Advocate Azad murder case. UP STF was also deployed for his arrest. Despite continuous raids, he was out of the reach of the police. During his absconding, his movable and immovable properties worth crores of rupees were attached on the orders of the court in March 2025. Even after this, he was roaming around trying to carry out criminal activities. STF has recovered a motorcycle, two pistols, a large quantity of live cartridges, spent cartridges, four mobile phones, two Wi-Fi dongles, a small bag and other documents including Aadhaar card from the spot.
