A serious case of illegal conversion has come to light in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan, adjacent to the India-Pakistan international border. There have been allegations of allegedly luring people with money to convert to Christianity in a rented house in Srikaranpur town. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, police and security agencies have become alert.
On Thursday night, 18 December 2025, suspicious activities were going on in the name of prayer meeting in a building in Ward No. 22 behind Gurudwara Shri Guru Nanak Darbar located near Shri Karanpur Railway Station. JW-ORG is said to be written on the building. When the local people noticed unusual movement here, they informed the police.
It was told that many vehicles were already parked near the Gurudwara. Among them, two foreign nationals were present in the UP numbered vehicle, whose information was revealed to be residents of Germany. Apart from this, many people had also reached there by Kerala number vehicle and Rajasthan number vehicle.
People were gathered in the name of prayer meeting
It is alleged that people were gathered inside the building in the name of prayer meeting and were allegedly inciting people to convert to religion by making objectionable remarks towards Hindu deities and gurus. The names of the people involved in this activity are said to be Baljinder Singh Khosa, Kerala resident Mathew and his wife Maria, Karnataka resident Santosh Varghese and Rajesh Kamboj alias Poppy.
6 detained including German couple
Taking action late in the night, the police took into custody a total of six people including Germany’s Swan Bauz Bet Jaller and his wife Sandra. After the detention, a large number of people from Hindu and Sikh organizations gathered outside the church premises and the police station. To handle the situation, CO Pushpendra Singh reached the spot and appealed to the people to maintain peace.
How can foreigners reach the border area without permission?
Local organizations allege that entry of foreign citizens without permission is prohibited in the border area, yet German citizens were called to the area. It is being told that the German couple had recently gone to visit the Majhiwala border area adjacent to the India-Pakistan border, after which the security agencies have become more alert.
Now it is being investigated how the foreign nationals reached the border area and who provided them support. Considering the seriousness of the matter, Bikaner Range IG Hemant Sharma and Sriganganagar SP Amrita Duhan are likely to reach Srikaranpur. Police say that after investigating all the aspects, strict action will be taken as per rules.
