Raipur : The farmers of Chhattisgarh have got respect from the paddy procurement policy of the state government, this year it is not just a season of paddy procurement, but has emerged as a symbol of the strengthening trust between the government and the farmers. The story of farmer Mangal Singh, resident of village Siriagode in Manendragarh Chirmiri Bharatpur district, is a living example of this positive change.
Mangal Singh is an ordinary farmer, whose livelihood is completely dependent on farming. Like every year, this time too he prepared the paddy crop in his fields with hard work and dedication. There were apprehensions in the mind due to uncertainty of weather and rising costs, but the farmer-friendly policies of the Chhattisgarh government reassured them. The purchase of paddy up to 21 quintals per acre and the announcement of support price of Rs 3100 per quintal assured them of respecting their hard work.
After getting the digital token, Mangal Singh reached Chainpur procurement center. Here he experienced a well-organized, disciplined and farmer-friendly system. Sitting facilities, drinking water facility, support staff and accurate weighing using digital weighing scales simplified the entire process. Verification through photo upload further strengthened transparency and trust. Mangal Singh sold a total of 80 quintals of paddy. No long queues, no unnecessary waiting and no hassles of any kind. The most satisfactory thing was that the entire amount of paddy sale was deposited directly into his bank account on time. This gave them a feeling of financial security and they were able to take care of their children’s education, household needs and preparation for the Rabi crop without any worries.
Mangal Singh says that earlier there were doubts regarding weighing and payment, but this year’s system completely changed his perspective. He expressed gratitude to the government for the transparent and farmer-friendly procurement system implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. Today, this success story of Mangal Singh is not just of one farmer, but of the hope, faith and self-reliance of thousands of farmers of Chhattisgarh – which proves that the future of the farmers is being secured with the right policy and strong system.
