Lucknow . BJP MLA from Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, Nandkishore Gurjar, is in the news for his controversial statements during a yoga program organized in Dagarpur village. He commented on cow slaughter, special communities, West Bengal politics and land mafias, which evoked deep reaction in political and social circles. The MLA said, cow is our mother and it is our right to protect the mother. If someone cuts the neck of a cow, his neck should be cut. He also said about a particular community, the one who slaughters a cow does not believe in Islam. Due to these, religious and social disputes arose. Nandkishore Gurjar targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that the MLA who kept the brick of Babri Masjid should be prosecuted. He also said that if this had happened in UP then he would have been sent to Yamalok. He talked about taking a strict stand against the land mafia and said that the houses of the encroachers should be bulldozed and the police should encounter them. After the MLA’s statements, protests and criticism intensified in political circles. The opposition described it as spreading hatred, while no official statement has come from the administration yet.
