Raipur : On the second day of the ongoing Inter-Zone (University Level) Sports Competition-2025-26 at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, track-and-field and team games filled the atmosphere of the sports complex with enthusiasm and energy. In the matches that lasted from morning till late evening, the speed, stamina and sportsmanship of the players was clearly visible. In today’s competitions with the participation of a total of 160 players, the finals of individual events of 1500 meters, 200 meters, long jump and shot put were mainly held.
In the women’s 1500 meter race, Kaushalya Dodi of North Zone performed brilliantly and secured the first position. Sumati Mandavi of South Zone stood second and Priyanka Dewan stood third. In the men’s category, Bhuvneshwar Yadav of South Zone won the gold medal, while Haresh Kurram of East Zone won the silver medal and Anant Ram Kashyap of North Zone won the bronze medal.
High speed of players was also seen in 200 meter sprint. In the women’s category, Sandhya Netam of East Zone won gold, Khemlata Gota of North Zone won silver and Poonika Chandravanshi of West Zone won bronze. In the men’s category, Krishna Pratap Singh of North Zone stood first, Kunal Raote of East Zone stood second and Ganesh Seth of West Zone stood third.
In field events, in men’s shot put, Gajendra of East Zone won gold, Dheeraj Kumar of North Zone won silver and Saurabh of West Zone won bronze. In women’s shot put, Harsha of North Zone stood first, Hemanshu stood second and Pranika of East Zone stood third.
In men’s long jump, Sameer Singh of North Zone won gold, Aarush Verma of South Zone won silver and Gaurav Varia of East Zone won bronze. In women’s long jump, Sandhya Netam of East Zone won her second gold of the day, Akanksha Mesram of South Zone won silver and Kaushalya Dodi of North Zone won bronze medal.
Along with athletics events, league matches of Volleyball, Kabaddi, Badminton, Kho-Kho and Table Tennis were also played today, in which teams from all four zones displayed excellent coordination and sportsmanship and presented exciting matches. The points competition between zones has intensified with the results of these group games, and the overall champion will be decided after tomorrow’s relay races and other events.
