Governor Ramen Deka today attended the closing ceremony of Audit Fortnight 2025 at the Office of the Principal Accountant General. This week was organized from 20 November to 8 December 2025 on the occasion of Audit Day. Governor Deka said that the Indian Accounts and Audit Department has a glorious history. Its foundation is linked to the audit system started in 1858 during the British rule. After independence, the makers of our Constitution understood the importance of this institution and gave it the status of constitutional authority.
The role of CAG is to encourage administrative reforms, innovation and transparency.

Deka said that in the era of rapidly growing digital governance, the role of CAG has become extremely important. This institution not only highlights shortcomings but also encourages administrative reforms, innovation and transparency. It not only serves to bring financial discipline in government operations, but also plays the important responsibility of preventing corruption and irregularities. The impartiality and hard work of the officers of this department has established it as a strong institution.
Public trust will be strengthened by the hard work and honesty of officers.
The Governor called upon all the officers and employees of the department to work with dedication and commitment while maintaining the traditions of this prestigious institution. Only through his hard work and honesty will the public trust become stronger. Principal Accountant General Yashwant Kumar gave the welcome speech in the program. At the end of the program, vote of thanks was given by Accountant General (Audit) Mohammad Faizan. On this occasion, Governor Deka planted trees in the community hall complex. All the officers and employees of the Accountant General’s Office were present in the program.
