Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, State Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Minority and Backward Class Welfare (Independent Charge) Krishna Gaur were specially present in the workshop.

Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that to make Madhya Pradesh the leading state of the country in the direction of education transformation, efforts will have to be made through policy direction, goals and coordinated work culture. The National Education Policy-2020 is a symbol of the youth’s belief in changing the society of the state and the country. This is a visionary action plan to give a new direction to the future of India, the basic nature of which is ‘inclusiveness’. He appreciated the initiative of collective thinking for effective implementation of the goals of the policy on the challenges related to holistic education, holistic development and holistic nation-building and the possibilities available in the special circumstances of Madhya Pradesh.

Governor Patel said that the provisions of the policy like integrated graduate programmes, multiple-entry-multiple-exit system, academic bank of credit and research-centric environment etc. are an opportunity to make higher education more flexible, modern and enriched with global competitiveness. For this, the higher educational institutions of the state will have to do the work of innovation, quality faculty development, digital infrastructure and strengthening of industry-academia partnership in a time bound manner. In school education, the school system will have to be made the leader through teacher training, modern technology and innovative methods to provide basic literacy and numeracy to children through experiential learning in the mother tongue.

Governor Patel said that to prepare students for the 21st century, we will have to work with “out of the box” thinking to achieve new dimensions of skill-building, digital literacy and self-learning through artificial intelligence. It also has to be understood that successful implementation of the policy is not just an administrative step, but a joint national effort.

Governor Patel said that change happens only through thinking. Referring to Gujarat State’s scheme Doodh Sanjeevani, he said that the initiative of distributing milk to the children in the schools not only eliminated malnutrition but also made the attendance of the children in the schools regular. He said that it is not appropriate to send children to school and consider them the responsibility of teachers. The responsibility of parents is also important in the development of children.
